Week 24 – A5: A textually saturated curriculum area: media studies

Reading: extract from Satchwell and Ivanic (2009) ‘The textual mediation of learning’

If teachers are aware of the potential of this informal media awareness of learners, they are more likely to be able to make links to it. They will also be able to enlist students’ personal engagement with the media for the benefit of their formal learning within an institution of education.
